Storck Adrenic G1 XTR Bike

Product Description

General Information

The adrenaline rush that comes from riding out of control is nothing like the rush from riding faster than ever, but in control. Storck’s ride preferences vary little from bike to bike. All bikes should be light, stiff, nimble, comfortable, and handle fast. The new Storck Adrenic XTR does just that, but with rear suspension. This is a 27.5 (aka 650b) cross-country rig that, even with 130mm travel in front and 120mm in the rear, rides with the precision you’d expect from a road bike.

The rear end utilizes a four-bar linkage, with carbon-fiber arms and rotating on sealed cartridge bearings. Thanks to this, the ride is totally separate from the suspension. A Fox shock handles the bump control and a Fox fork with remote handle the front end.

Carbon-fiber is, of course, the material of choice. It’s not only light, but easy to manipulate for the ride qualities Storck wants. The main triangle benefits from not only high-quality plies of carbon, careful placement of the material, and intense shaping, but also Storck’s Directional Depending Stiffness, a way to maximize horizontal rigidity and vertical compliance. It might not seem, at first blush, like something necessary for full-suspension, but it helps master both steering and drivetrain efficiency while allowing the frame a little extra tenderness when you need it.

Designed into the frame are the small touches that make Storcks stand out. Internal cabling makes both mechanical and electronic shifting look good. It also keeps muck from degrading your shifting. The bottom bracket standard is BB92, which allows for a wide, strong bottom bracket shell, which aids in weight reduction, durability, and rigidity. The tapered head tube hiding a 1 1/8” to 1 ½” steerer does the same. Up top, the Storck MLP150 post is both wide, it has a 31.6mm diameter, and compliant. It also is where you’d store the battery when you go electronic. The front derailleur setup is direct mount, which is much easier to work with than older clamp designs.

The group is Shimano’s top-shelf XTR group. Two rings still offer the widest range of gears and are plenty simple to operate. Here, you have a 40/28 up front with an 11-36 eleven-speed cassette in the back. The rear derailleur is the low-profile XTR Shadow, which not only hides under the chainstay and the cassette, but wraps the chain better so it never falls off a cog, reduces the noise of chain slap and increases efficiency. Brakes are XTR’s Race version, with Ice-Tech pads packed in for better cooling.

Storck builds their bikes to be ready for everything. That’s why there’s a 180mm rotor in front and 160mm in back. You can upsize to 180 in back if you want more cooling, but with Shimano’s Ice-Tech rotors, you probably won’t need to.

The 27.5 wheels are DT Swiss’ M1700 Spline wheels. The 22mm-wide tubeless-ready wheels might feature aluminum rims, but they are still only 1705g per set. The spokes are DT Competition double-butted straight-pull, which makes for strong wheels. And the DT Swiss hubs are known for their durability and their legendary ratchet engagement system for quick engagement of the pawls. Rolling rubber is Schwalbe Rocket Ron 2.25”, an all-condition tread that favors hardpack, and a casing that favors racing. They roll fast.

The cockpit is all Storck. The seatpost features a Selle Italia Monolink SLS saddle. Monolinks are loved for the ability to precisely tune saddle position, but if you can’t get comfy on it, an extra clamp for conventional-railed saddles comes with the bike. The bars are 700mm wide carbon bars that can be cut down to size without issue.

The Storck Adrenic XTR Bike gives you enduro cushioning on a fast cross-country racer.
