An affordable carbon dual suspension XC/marathon bike, capable of conquering MTB stage races as well, the Scott Spark 720/920 is ready to hit the trail whenever you are. Built with the same World Cup and World Championship winning geometry and handling that Nino Schurter and Geoff Kabush benefit from, it’s just a matter of picking your prefered wheelsize. A nice problem to have, that’s for sure.
With 120mm of travel and 27.5” wheels on the 720, and 100mm of travel and 29” wheels on the 920, the Spark 720/920 is perfect for XC racing, marathons, or stepping up your game on your favorite epic adventures. Light enough and versatile enough for MTB stage races as well, the HMF carbon frame and alloy swingarm deliver unrelenting pedaling efficiency. Scott’s IMP (Integrated Molding Process) technology produces a lightweight, stiff, and durable carbon front triangle that mates perfectly with the alloy swingarm made from custom tubing. Scott has decades of carbon manufacturing experience and has always been on the leading edge of development, both in terms of molding techniques and carbon layups. They’ve refined their processes to the point that other brands are still trying to learn. When you’re on a trail far from civilization, that expertise is like money in the bank.
Scott and Fox have worked together in a proprietary partnership, leading to development of the Nude CTCD rear shock. Exclusive to Scott, it works in perfect harmony with the Fox 32 Float Evolution CTD Air fork, and Scott’s TwinLoc remote switch. Adjust the entire riding feel with the flip of a switch, all while flying down the trail in total control. It’s as easy as breathing, and requires as little thought. Blast the descent with fully active suspension, then hit the switch as you rail a few technical sections, and then stiffen things up further to hammer up that steep climb at the bottom. And then sit back and watch as your friends try to catch up with you.
A mix of Shimano’s SLX and XT parts cover the drivetrain and braking system. SLX shifters with SLX front and XT rear derailleurs get the most out of the 38/24 XT crankset and 11-36 cassette. Shimano is the leader in hydraulic braking performance, and the SLX brakes with 180mm front and 160mm rear rotors provide that perfect balance of light lever feel and solid braking power.
Durability and reliability are features that are sometimes omitted from affordable bikes, especially carbon fiber dual suspension bikes. However, Scott uses lightweight, durable, and reliable parts from the legendary Syncros brand. The alloy FL1.5 flat bar and alloy XR1.5 stem keep you pointed in the right direction, while the XR2.0 saddle and FL1.5 seatpost keep you securely and comfortably perched. Built with hubs made for Syncros by DT Swiss, the alloy Syncros XR2.5 wheels are exceptionally bulletproof. Schwalbe Rocket Ron EVO tires have excellent grip for numerous trail types and are still exceptionally light, for quick acceleration.
The Scott Spark 720/920 is an amzing blend of performance features and affordability. Perfect for XC racing, marathons, or conquering stage races, the hardest decision is simply which wheel size to choose.
